In computer networking and web based technologies in particular, a session is an interactive and temporary information exchange between two or more communication devices, or between an active computer and client. A session can be established at any time and subsequently torn-down as soon as necessary - brought to an end at a later time. The primary means of communication for most businesses today is through the Internet. This is usually accomplished through either email instant messaging (IM) or text chat. These protocols have been developed to be very simple for most people to use and understand.
The basic protocol for each of these protocols is pretty much the same, so most people have a good idea what they are doing. However, the differences between protocols are where the real value and flexibility in a session script come in. IM is really nothing more than a series of pre-written messages, which go from client to server and back again; and IM is really only useful for short-term communications (such as email). So the potential usefulness of IM for a business is limited at best. But by using a software download session script, you can easily extend the functionality of IM, send and receive emails, create and reply to emails, draft documents and perform other tasks.
The software download session script works just like any other software download that you might use. The client software is installed on the computer being used to run the IM session. A CD or DVD containing the client software and related documentation is then used to load the software into the system of the user (the "Server"). From there, anyone can log into the IM session, perform functions as needed, and make changes to the information stored in the IM database.
